Scenic Helicopter Flights

You will be collected from the heli-pad within walking distance of the lodge and whisked away over the Lowveld wilderness into the third largest canyon in the world.
The duration of the Blyde River Canyon flight is approximately an hour. You do have the option however, by prior arrangement to stop for a romantic picnic on one of the many rocky ledges overlooking the magnificent canyon. A picnic in the canyon offers an ideal and unique opportunity to celebrate a special occasion!

Wildlife Rehabilitation Centres
Take a guided tour to the Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre or the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre for an informative experience on the plight of our areas wildlife.
Both centres provide excellent photographic opportunities.
Hot Air Ballooning
Take a slow "float"over the citrus farms and towards the mountains for another bucket list adventure!
This activity makes for a very early start of your day, and is very dependent on the weather.
The Panorama Route
The famous Panorama Route spans over two provinces; Mpumalanga and Limpopo and includes the Blyde River Canyon, one of the largest green canyons in the world.
It offers a wealth of attractions which make it one of the most popular routes to explore in the whole of Africa.

Blyde Dam Boat Cruises
Enjoy the splendor of the third largest canyon in the world...from the water.
An informative tour by a tour guide will take you to the rare living Kadishi Tufa waterfall and the Three Rondawels.
An abundance of wildlife will keep you entertained while learning more about the natural history of the Blyde Canyon.
Jessica the Hippo
Take a short drive west of Hoedspruit and down to the banks of the Blyde River. Jessica the Hippo was rescued as a calf during the destructive floods in 2000 and was taken in by a family living on the banks of the river.
This special hippo is unique in the fact that she lives life as a wild hippo, but she interacts with humans in a very different way; she is friendly and calm.
This is also an excellent photographic opportunity.
Nourish NPO, is situated a short drive away from The River Lodge.
This organisation helps the less fortunate communities on our reserves boundaries in the form of education and community development.
Spend some time at the creche playing or reading with the children, give a hand in the vegetable garden or just simply have a look around and talk to the volunteers.
